State Reveals Underage Drinking Crackdown Results

The results are in from April’s underage drinking enforcement crackdowns. State agencies conducted 66 details in 46 counties targeting more than 850 businesses. 186 were found to be selling to agents posing as underage buyers. Of those businesses one was located in Amsterdam. 665 businesses passed the compliance checks. Those charged with underage sales face civil penalties of up to $10,000 per violation, with fines starting from $2,500 to $3,000 for a first-time offense. Repeat offenders also face potential suspension or revocation of their liquor licenses.
